Exhibition by the Collectif Incarnat as part of the Itiner’Arts event at the Arras Town Hall. I put “double work” into it…

On November 4 and 5, the CONNEXION(S) 4 exhibition was held in the Cloth Hall of the Douai Town Hall. Around twenty artists from different backgrounds participated and this exhibition was an opportunity for great exchanges.

The theme was “Point à la Lettre”. It is with “dot the i’s” that I answered it with this photograph.

Thanks to the Habitat et Humanisme association, the former convent of the Carmelite Sisters, in Douai, has been brought back to life with the creation of an intergenerational residence.
From February 2021 to May 2023 it was two and a half years of work and, for me, a very wonderful experience, rich in encounters, materialized by several hundred photos taken during 80 sessions.
This photographic work can be discovered within the residence itself: 30 large format prints are exhibited in the passageways and around thirty compositions hang on the walls of the Françoise Delvoye room.
All these photographs have been included in an 82-page album which recalls the history of the place and describes the key points of this rebirth.

As part of a partnership between the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental d'Arras and the Collectif Incarnat, the cultural season opened with “Saxopéra”, a surprising ambulatory concert tour, a unique approach to opera with a journey through the The Collective’s photo exhibition.

From September 11 to October 6, the exhibition “Viens danser!” takes place at the MJC in Douai. ". This is the restitution of the work of four photographers from the SPCD, Fabienne Clin, Yves Fauvel, Alain Van Ceulen and myself. The shots took place during the MJC contemporary dance gala and a few rehearsals.

Every May 18 is National Trash and Garbage Day!
On this occasion, at the initiative of Cité Nature, activities and workshops were organized by the Collectif de l'Esplanade in Arras.

Douai is back in the last "France Photographie" issue of the magazine of the Photographic Federation of France !

After revealing some treasures from the Municipal Archives in number 270, another world, that of the funfair, is presented in number 271.

Each year, at the beginning of July, Douai lives at Gayant holiday time: shows, exhibitions, parade, funfair ... Circumstances oblige, they will not take place this year. So let's go back two years to find this graphic and colorful universe !

For their 3rd edition, the "Focales du pays d'Auge" offer 33 open-air exhibitions inviting visitors to question our relationship to the world and to nature.

400 photos will thus be available on the Honfleur, Équemauville and Beuzeville sites.

They all respond to a double theme:

- The discovery of the great outdoors and the people who work daily on the water,

- The major environmental issues such as global warming, droughts, melting glaciers, access to water, pollution by plastic but also purifying water and its sacred symbolism.

I have the great pleasure of exhibiting in Honfleur, at Lavoir St Léonard, a series of 10 photos, "Adrift" which "highlights" pollution by waste. May this work raise awareness that respect for our environment, nature and the other, is imposed on each of us more than ever ...

Promoting the arts and culture, highlighting heritage, promoting social ties, defending the environment, these are the aims of the association "L’Art en Chemin", an association law 1901 chaired by Alain Bron.
For this 7th edition, whose theme is “Balance”, “L'Art en Chemin”, will install works at the Senlis Ecological Park and in surrounding municipalities (Rully-Bray, Balagny-sur-Aunette, Raray, Trumilly, Verberie) 32 plastic artists (painting, engraving, illustration, sculpture, land-art, photography) as well as the texts (news, memories, poetry, description, story ...) of 32 authors.
I will have the pleasure of participating in this beautiful project with a diptych from my series "On a thread" and sharing it with, among others, Yves Cairoli.
These open-air exhibitions will be accessible free of charge from the end of June to the beginning of October.
A final view (with the public, volunteers and artists) could take place at the end of the exhibitions.

"Tell me ten words", organized as part of "French Language Week", this year had the theme "Over the water".
This event was to materialize, among other places, at the Douai MJC by an exhibition presenting paintings, photographs, works by children from nursery and elementary schools in Douai.
In the current context this exhibition has of course been canceled.
Schools were given the opportunity to bring writing work to one of the paintings or photographs that were to be exhibited.
It was with pleasure that I discovered the poem inspired by my photography. I invite you to find out. Many thanks to the children and teachers for this gift !

"Le Parvis" has for several years hosted various artistic events. He will soon know another life. To mark this turning point, Mireille Désidéri wanted to organize one last exhibition : "Make the wall".

Tréca hardware store was established at this address in 1815. Destroyed at the end of the First World War and rebuilt, it closed its doors in 1972. After unfortunate episodes and a few years of abandonment, the place comes to life by hosting the Furet du Nord

This is a beautiful Eiffel-style building, a successful marriage between past and present (especially thanks to the new stairs), a place to discover for its architecture but also for the reception that will be reserved for you!

The Albert Camus College has been engaged since the beginning of the school year in a project entitled "Acting for the environment within the college". The first part developed is that of waste management, and ultimately of their reduction.
It is in this context that is exposed from February 25 to March 10 exhibition "Sublimated waste"

As part of the Artistic and Cultural Education Course and the Citoyen Course, an action aimed at making students aware of the school's sustainable development approach was initiated for sixth graders.
The "sublimated waste" exhibition was presented at the media library, a meeting with 2 classes was held on Wednesday 30. It gave rise to an article on the college website.

The December issue of "France Photographie", a magazine of the Photographic Federation of France, has for main theme "trades".
I am very pleased to be published in the central portfolio, a 16-page portfolio of superb print quality.
The 15 compositions constituting this portfolio are from the series "Arkéos, birth of a museum". This series is the result of a 16-month work that started with the first concrete pours and ended with the last adjustments just minutes from the inauguration.

From March 22nd to March 28th is held, in the MJC of Douai, the exhibition “Tell me ten words”.
Y take part the pupils of the nursery and elementary schools, 7 members of the Artists Douaisiens and 8 members of the Société Photo-Ciné de Douai.
The exposure presents interpretation that each one could do one of the 10 following words: avatar, hoax, favourite, emoticon, to host, nomad, snooper, pirate, cloud, télésnober.

« The Brewers of Gayant » is a company created in Douai in 1919. Development obliges, it left the places which saw it being born. Also, it was important to keep a trace of its Douai-native history, nearly 100 years! This series of diptychs was created in 2015. By associating two witnesses, one of the past, the other of today, it seeks to show how much present and last closely remain dependent.

Distinctive feature of this exhibition, the work of each artist was reinterpreted by children of an elementary school. In what relates to me, it is the nursery class (TPS/PS/MS) of Mrs. Zawlocki, School F. Rabelais in Monchy le Preux.

An exhibition in the Museum ARKEOS came to close the project « READ THE CITY 2015 ». It presented work of the pupils of the schools « Les Tilleuls-Solitude » and « Leclerc de Hautecloque » as well as the « College Gayant » in Douai.
In this rich and varied exhibition, one could discover there the work of writing of the pupils of CE1 and CE2 classes. It made following a meeting in February during which a set of compositions had been shown to them. They took out the series « ARKEOS, birth of a museum »

From May 13th to June 3rd, was held in the MJC in Douai, the XIe Meeting of Contemporary Art.
The topic of this meeting was « Past, Present, Future ».
25 artists presented their work.

It’s on the occasion of the Congress of the French Photographic Federation that 3 exhibitions are presented in the hall of the MERCURE Hôtel in PERPIGNAN.
The 23 photographs of the series « Towards a new life » can be discoverd there.
Curious coïncidence : this work on waste is exhibited in the same time in the MERCURE Hotels in Arras and Perpignan.

The exhibition is presented throught a partnership between the Mercure Hotel in Arras and the Cenacle of Douayeul.
10 photographs (size 60X60 cm) of the serie « Sublimated Waste » will be exhibited from May 4th to June 30th.
The private view will take place on Thursday, May 21 from 19 pm.

Before they visit the museum ARKEOS, a meeting was held with a group of students of the « Collège Gayant » in Douai.
40 compositions of the series « ARKEOS, birth of a museum » were presented to them. The discussion focused on the content (the transformation of the site, of the building) but on the form (the research of visual similitaries between the pictures in a composition). The analysis of the lines in some photographs even enabled to approach mathematical notions ( perpendicular and parallelism) and to see that it could have différences betwwen the picture and the réality !

Following their visit of the exhibition « Sublimated Waste » in Maing, the pupils of the CM1 of Mrs Lanoy had wished to meet the photographer, author of this series.
A meeting was arranged on Tuesday, February 17, in the afternoon.
The interview had been carefully prepared and the questions were varied. Here are some :
« Why this title of the exhibition ? Are you a professional photographer ? Where did you take the pictures ? Which camera do you have ? Did you expose abroad ? Which is your preferate waste ?... »

« TOWARDS A NEW LIFE » : Special Price of the Jury « all categories » at the Grand Prix of Author and Grand Prix of Creation of the French Federation of Photography.
It’s on Saturday, February 7, in Paris, that the judgement of the Grand Prix of Author and Grand Prix of Creation took place, organized by the French Federation of Photography.
The judging panel was composed of Sylvie Hugues, former Editor-in-Chef of the magazine « Réponse Photo », Gérald Vidamment, Editor-in-Chef of « Competence Photo », Thomas Goupille, Director of CINQ26 and Jean-François Hery, professional photographer and photo presenter.
The Grand Prix of Author was given to Frédéric Fouchet for his series « New York variations », the Grand Prix of Creation to Nicolas Idee for his series « Intrication » and the judging panel asked that a « Special Price of the Jury, all categories » was awarded to the series « Towards a new life » because they were conquered by an exemplary work on our waste, combining creation and meticulous concept ».

In the framework of the project « Read the Town », the pedagogical team of the school « La Solitude » in Douai-Frais-Marais choosed for the school-year 2014-2015 the topic « Around ARKEOS »
A meeting took place with the pupils on Wednesday, February 11.
40 compositions of the series « ARKEOS, birth of a museum » were presented to them. So they could discover some stages of the construction and of the installation of the museum. Throught the analysis of some compositions, an awareness of the reading of images was made.
A prolongation will be given by a work of writing around a selection of photographic compositions.
